DSPS Engineering has developed expertise in designing and manufacturing devices for controlling hot and cold air through an engine. A range of devices is available, and bespoke items can be designed and manufactured. Many of the ancillary components, such as clamps, fittings, and membranes, can also be provided.
DSPS products compete at the highest levels of motorsport, and the only way to ensure optimum performance is to manufacture components with the tightest tolerances and use the correct materials. The arena of motorsport also demands continual innovation to maintain a competitive advantage. Quality drives everything we do, and we do not compromise on quality.
Technical proficiency
For decades, DSPS personnel have been involved in the upper echelons of motorsport. They are hyper-aware of the high level required to continue designing and producing race—and championship-winning components. Our exceptional relationships with both customers and suppliers allow us to provide what the customer wants—performance, reliability, and race-winning technology. DSPS Engineering operates a Total Quality system, with all parts and assemblies having complete traceability.
DSPS specialises in wastegates and anti-lag valves. Other components used for air control, such as blow-off valves, pop-off valves, and inlet control systems, are also part of the DSPS armoury.
Experienced engineering team
DSPS Engineering has well over 100 years of top-level motorsport experience. Currently involved in professional motorsport up to the highest level, our engineering team is dedicated and passionate about what they do. A team of 10 highly experienced people checks, assembles, inspects, tests, and despatches all DSPS products.
Innovations in design
Technology, knowledge, understanding and insight drive good design, as does being aware of what the customer wants to achieve.
DSPS has state-of-the-art design software and testing facilities, as do many other companies. What sets us apart is our relationships with our customers and suppliers. In an increasingly technological world, DSPS prizes the value of a face-to-face relationship. We will travel to the other side of the world to introduce an innovation, understand what a customer needs, and solve a problem. This is our philosophy – Quality controls everything we do, from designing and manufacturing, through to interacting with our customers and suppliers.
Advanced materials and manufacturing
One of the critical design elements is choosing the correct material for the application, be it Inconel, Titanium, Aluminium, Steel or Nimonic. Sometimes, we are limited by motorsport regulations for a particular race category, and we take that into account. However, if not regulated, we will also use the best material for the job at hand, manufactured to the highest standard – this is the only way to consistently produce race and championship-winning components and assemblies.
We work extremely closely with our suppliers, providing designs that can be manufactured consistently and repeatably to a high standard. Forged valves and components manufactured to exacting standards, using aerospace materials, ensure excellent quality products. Working closely with our customers, who often perform durability tests at extreme conditions, we can continue providing outstanding products.
Quality assurance practices
DSPS Engineering operates an in-house Total Quality system to aerospace standards. All components are inspected by our suppliers and then again by our in-house inspection team as they arrive. Completed assemblies are then tested and inspected again prior to despatch. Quality drives everything we do. Not only do we maintain traceability of our components, with all bespoke manufactured components having material certification, we also assign an individual life number to every single assembly that is despatched. At any point in the future, we will have knowledge of all of the components in a particular assembly, such as when the material was extracted from the earth, who built the assembly, when it was despatched, and by whom.
The DSPS Total Quality Management (TQM) process is described above. This ensures the reliability and consistency of the parts supplied. It is experience, simulation technology, and relationships with customers that ensure reliability and performance in action. We operate an advanced suite of simulation tools, applying mechanical, thermal and dynamic loads to components long before any manufacturing is done. This simulation allows weak points to be predicted, subsequently modified and re-analysed before parts are manufactured. This is all part of the service offered behind the scenes, ensuring success on the track.
Technological integration
DSPS Engineering fully uses its vast experience when designing and manufacturing products. State-of-the-art simulation and design tools are also extensively used during the design process. Together with all of this, constant and ongoing communication with the end-user ensures that the customer receives what they want, when they want it, and within budget.
